The worst website…

..but the best website.

cookingbynumbers.com takes an idea that I wished existed forever and makes it exist. Judging by the terrible website, I’ll use deductive reasoning to blame this anti-web presence on the horrible SEO, which I imagine wasn’t a word (initialism, whatever….) when this site was made.

website design highlights include: splash page which says nothing but ‘click [hideous] logo to enter,’ royal blue background with black text, awesome clip art, and an animated gif of a bunch of junk you might find in your fridge.

Anyway, it’s really simple. You check boxes to say what is already in your house, and the website tells you what you can cook. I only buy 5 things at the grocery store anyway, so now I know I can make at least 8 delicious meals with those ingredients. woot! check it out>>

As I was checking out the line up for this year’s Music Fest Northwest in Portland, I was greeted with this awesome header. Why does portland music festivals always have the most noteworthy design (look at this year’s Sasquatch site, for example)?? I love everything, especially the way the incorporated the banner ads for sponsors (top left airplane sporting an actual banner ad)… Check out the site, and go see the Tallest Man on Earth, because I am.

I really don’t like to admit I like youtube videos, but this one can’t be ignored. A happy animation using video of printers doing what they do best.

Help, I can’t get off this website

I was visiting Help Remedies (helpineedhelp.com) today, a company who is proud to posess some of the Internets most famed packaging. As I was exploring their site, I clicked the suggestive button in their nav, “Help, I’m bored.”

Was I bored? Not really. I have a ton of work today!

But I did it anyway, just to see. And now I wish I was bored, because this very well may be the Coolest Page of the Internet.

Not only is it the only good use of flash I’ve seen on a website, but it may be the happiest I’ve ever been looking at a website (aside from this one). They take a bunch of common ailments (help, I’m afraid of clowns. help, I’m always wrong) and provide it’s remedy (picture of a crying clown, a flash pick-a-number-game where you are always right). It’s beautiful and I highly  recommend you go there now, and you will be as happy as I am (which is really, really happy).

Are you trying to make a cool package? I am. And I stumbled upon this steezy and surprisingly helpful website to browse used-uploaded .ai templates for some awesome packages. Free! Enjoy istockpack.com!

My only complaint is that you can’t see the actual template before downloading, but they give you the option to download a handfull at a time, which makes finding what you need a bit easier!

New coasters, more rings welcome.

Cut on some kind of dangerous saw (thanks Taylor!) and painted with wood stain and laquer, this fallen branch turned into a stack of cool crafty coasters for my new apartment. I love them.
